Sciatica is a mild to excruciating pain that affects the back of the legs and hips. Chiropractic has over the years served as an effective approach used in treating sciatica. It is a combination of different kinds of techniques and therapy, which work together to treat sciatica pain.
Sciatica pain originates from the lower back. It sends painful stimuli to the sciatic nerve which is located at the lower back, causing it an adverse reaction that manifests in form of an extremely painful sensation. The pain travels down the muscles of the buttocks, to the lower calf, causing a great deal of discomfort with every step the patient takes.
A bulging or herniated disc is the most common cause of sciatica pain. An injury or hole can fracture the disc and cause it to start bulging towards the spinal nerves. This abnormality strains the sciatic nerve so much that it begins to ache. It may initially start in form of muscle spasm, and a tingling sensation, but later on it’ll deteriorate into a burning sensation at the back of the hip and down the leg.
If you experience one or more of these symptoms, then you may be experiencing sciatica pain:
Although sciatica places pressure on the disc into the spine, and limits the range of motion in some parts of the vertebrae such that movement becomes difficult, Chiropractic therapy effectively relieves the pain and eases movement. The Chiropractic doctor adjusts the spine and other joints and move them back into their normal position. This adjustment restores the frozen parts of the vertebrae, takes the pain away and enables the patient to start walking normally again.
